ウサギちゃんは初めてのチェックインで、ちょっとドキドキ…。

Today, Usagi-chan and Inu-kun are staying at a hotel in Japan.
It’s Usagi-chan’s first time checking in, and she feels a little nervous.
Through her conversation with the hotel staff, let’s learn useful Japanese expressions for hotel check-in!

Hotel check-in in Japanese Script
スタッフ： チェックインですか？
ウサギ： はい。
スタッフ： お名前をよろしいですか？
ウサギ： ウサギです。
スタッフ： ありがとうございます。今日から一泊（いっぱく）、
二名様（にめいさま）でおまちがいないですか？
ウサギ： はい。
スタッフ： パスポートはお持ちですか？
ウサギ： はい。
スタッフ： ありがとうございます。では、当ホテルは
先払い（さきばらい）となりますので、こちらおねがいします。
(Fun fact: In Japan, hotel staff often don’t say the price out loud, so that other guests won’t hear it.)
ウサギ： （小声で）犬くん、「先払い（さきばらい）」ってなに？
犬： 「先払い」は、先にお金をはらうという意味だよ。チェックインのときに
お金をはらわないといけないってこと。
ウサギ： わかった！
ウサギ： あの、Wi-Fiはありますか？
スタッフ： はい、ございます。お部屋（へや）にパスワードが書いてありますので、
ごかくにんください。
ウサギ： ありがとうございます。
ウサギ： 朝食（ちょうしょく）はありますか？
スタッフ： はい、朝食（ちょうしょく）は一階（いっかい）のレストランで
７時（しちじ）から９時（くじ）まででございます。
ウサギ： わかりました。
ウサギ： チェックアウトは何時（なんじ）ですか？
スタッフ： チェックアウトは午前１１時（ごぜんじゅういちじ）まででございます。
ウサギ： はい、ありがとうございます。
スタッフ： では、お部屋（へや）はこちらになります。エレベーターは
カードキーをタッチしてから階（かい）のボタンをおしてください。
ウサギ： わかりました。ありがとうございます。

Staff: Are you checking in?

Usagi: Yes.
Staff: Do you have your passport?
Usagi: Yes.
Staff: Thank you. At this hotel, payment is made in advance. Please pay here.

Usagi (quietly to Inu): Inu-kun, what does “advance payment” mean?
Inu: “Advance payment” means you have to pay first, at check-in.
Usagi: Got it.

Staff: Yes, we do. The password is written in your room, so please check there.
Usagi: Thank you.
Usagi: Is there breakfast?
Staff: Yes, breakfast is on the first floor in the restaurant, from 7:00 to 9:00.
Usagi: Understood.
Usagi: What time is check-out?
Staff: Check-out is until 11:00 a.m.
Usagi: Okay, thank you.
Staff: Here is your room key. For the elevator, please tap the card key and then press the floor button.
