Talking about relationships in Japanese is a great way to connect with friends.

In Japanese culture, there is even a special word for this: 恋バナ (koi-bana), which means “love talk” or “talking about relationships.”

What Does 恋バナ Mean in Japanese?


  • 恋 (koi) = love, romance

  • バナ (bana) = 話 (hana), talk


So, 恋バナ = talking about relationships, love stories, and dating experiences with friends.


👉 This is a very common topic in Japanese daily conversation, especially among young people.

  • 〜と別れた = break up with ~

  • んだ(よね) = introduction / background

  • 〜と付き合う = date (someone)

  • お互い = both of us
